Animal Scientists

Two week SUMMER CAMP for entering Grades 5 and 6.  Price: $1,395

Have you ever wondered why squirrels hide their food rather than eating what they find right away? Or why some animals such as lions and tuna live in groups rather than by themselves? In this camp, your young biologist will explore the process and power of creative scientific investigation. Together, as animal behaviorists, we will learn how to carefully observe animals in their habitats in an attempt to understand why they do what they do. We will utilize these new skills outside in nature, and also visit animals that live in The Lawrence's Animal Discovery Zone, including Paco the Chinchilla and Melbourne the Bearded Dragon. During this program, campers will draft their very own interesting and investigable animal behavior questions and then design and carry out creative experiments to answer them. Participants will gain real scientific knowledge, learn skills involving the investigative process, and gain insights into animal behaviors.
