Are you curious about how we affect the air we breathe and even the soil we grow our food in? In this weeklong Teen Research Program, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in the science of environmental monitoring. Together we will collect, analyze, and interpret data surrounding the presence or absence of environmental pollutants such as chemical lead (Pb) concentrations in the soil and particulate matter concentrations in the air both at the Lawrence Hall of Science and in surrounding neighborhoods. We will also discuss how these techniques and approaches can be applied to environmental monitoring in urban settings. You will gain skills and knowledge about environmental science while adding valuable experience to your college application.
