Environmental Monitoring

Entering Grades 10-11-12     $895.00

Are you curious about how we humans affect the air we breathe, and even the soil in which we grow our food? In this weeklong Teen Research Program, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in the science of environmental monitoring. Together we will collect, analyze, and interpret data surrounding the presence (or absence) of environmental pollutants such as chemical lead (Pb) concentrations in the soil and particulate matter concentrations in the air, both at The Lawrence Hall of Science in the Berkeley hills and in surrounding neighborhoods. We will also discuss how these techniques and approaches can be applied to environmental monitoring in urban settings. You will gain skills and knowledge about environmental science while adding valuable experience to your college application or career path.
